Welcome to slowbloom, a calm and private place to journal. Everything you write is end-to-end encrypted in your browser, so the only person who can ever read your entries is you. Getting going takes just a few minutes.
1. Create your account
Head to /signup and sign up with your email and a password. Your password is special here: it is used to derive the encryption key that locks and unlocks your journal. Because of that, choose something you will remember, and pick a password you do not use anywhere else.
2. Save your recovery code
Right after you sign up, slowbloom shows you a one-time recovery code. This is the only way back into your journal if you ever forget your password. Write it down or store it somewhere safe and private, like a password manager.
We cannot reset your password or recover your entries for you. Because your journal is zero-knowledge, the recovery code is your only backup key. If you lose both your password and your recovery code, your entries cannot be unlocked by anyone, including us.
3. Write your first petal
Each entry in slowbloom is called a petal. Open the editor, give it a title, and write whatever is on your mind. You can use Markdown for headings, lists, and emphasis, and you can set a date, a mood colour, and tags. When you are ready, save it. To learn more, see writing entries.
4. Watch your flower grow
Once you save, your petal appears on your flower, a gentle overview of everything you have written. Come back day by day and watch it bloom as your journal grows.
Tip: install slowbloom as an app on your phone or computer so it opens instantly and works offline for reading. See installing the app.
