Frequently asked questions

Short, honest answers to the questions people ask most. If you want more detail, the Data and privacy and Account pages go deeper.

Can you read my entries?

No. slowbloom is end-to-end encrypted. Your entries, titles, tags, trackers, and images are locked in your browser with a key derived from your password, and the server only ever stores text it cannot read. Not even our team can see what you've written.

What if I forget my password?

Use your recovery code, the one-time code you were given at signup. It's the only way back in, because zero-knowledge encryption means we can't reset your password for you. If you lose both your password and your recovery code, your entries are unrecoverable, so please keep that code somewhere safe.

Is there an app to install?

slowbloom is a PWA, which means you can install it to your home screen or dock straight from your browser, no app store needed. See Install the app for step-by-step instructions.

Can I use it on Android, Windows, or Linux?

Yes. slowbloom runs in any modern browser, so it works on Android, Windows, Linux, macOS, and iOS alike. There's nothing platform-specific to download.

Is it free?

Yes. The Free plan is a full journal you can use forever, with 10 GB of image storage. There's also a paid plan called Bloom that adds the AI companion, a longer 7-day edit window, and 50 GB of image storage. See Pricing for the details.

What languages is slowbloom in?

slowbloom is available in English and Deutsch (German), and you can switch between them in Settings. More languages may follow.

Can I export my entries?

You can export your flower as an image, a visual record of your journaling over time, to keep or share. It's a simple way to hold on to the shape of your year.

How is the AI used?

The AI companion is off by default and turned on with a clear, one-time explanation of what's sent. Only the specific text you choose is sent, and only when you invoke an action such as a reflection, prompt, or summary. If you never turn it on, none of your writing is ever sent for AI.

Can I add friends?

Yes, if you want to. Friends are entirely opt-in and off until you turn them on. You add people by a friendly "flowery name" — no email or phone needed — and can share a gentle weekly writing streak. Friends never see your entries; only that you wrote, never what. You can disable social features, block people, or remove friends at any time. See Friends for how it works.

What about my email and the dates I write?

A little metadata stays readable to the server so the app can function: your email address, your plan, an entry's mood colour, and its timestamps. If you opt into friends, your chosen username and that social activity (like your weekly streak) are also readable. The words themselves, along with titles, tags, trackers, and images, are always encrypted. The Data and privacy page lists exactly what's covered.
