The AI companion is an optional helper for when a blank page feels hard or you want a gentle nudge to reflect. It's available on the Bloom plan, and it's designed to stay out of your way unless you ask for it.
What it can do
When you choose to use it, the companion can offer a few simple things:
- Writing prompts — a gentle question or starting point when you're not sure what to write.
- Get unstuck — a nudge when you've stalled mid-entry and the words won't come.
- Reflections — a soft, thoughtful response to something you wrote, to help you sit with it.
- Summaries — a short recap of a longer entry or stretch of writing.
- Yearly themes — a look back across your writing to surface the threads running through it.
- Gentle suggestions — an optional mood, title, or tags for an entry, which you're free to accept or ignore.
Off by default, and only when you ask
The companion is off by default. Turning it on shows a clear, one-time explanation of exactly what gets sent and to whom. After that, nothing is ever sent to the AI silently — only the specific text you choose, at the moment you choose an action. If you never turn it on, your writing simply stays between you and your encrypted journal, and you can turn it off again any time.
When you do use it, AI runs on Mistral, an EU provider: your text is processed in the EU and is never used to train AI models.
Tip: you can try the companion on a single entry without committing to using it everywhere. It's there for the moments you want it.
Honest limits
It helps to know what the companion is not. It has no memory across sessions, so it won't remember earlier entries or carry context from day to day. Its summaries and reflections are best-effort and can be wrong or miss the point. And while it's meant to feel warm, it's a companion, not a therapist.
If you're going through something serious, please reach out to a qualified person or a crisis line in your area. The AI companion can't replace real care.
